We are proud to announce that we are sponsoring this little cutie with Hearing Dogs. He is called Rico and we wanted to support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as they train these wonderful creatures so that people with hearing problems can leave loneliness behind. Who sits by his food cupboard thirty minutes before feeding time with his bottom rooted to the spot? Who runs off with the napkins from people’s laps at dinner? Who loves playing by tossing plastic plant pots and tufts of grass joyfully into the air?
Rico, of course!

He’s a puppy of many talents. He can ‘help’ empty the washing machine, and bags of shopping. He can explore the furniture, especially the top of the sofa by walking along it. And, after being such a busybody, he can even stretch out in front of the fire, or on his back on the beanbag. He’s really good at that.
Or, he can curl up on your lap. Actually, your lap is perfect for him. Yes, we do mean yours! Anybody’s, in fact. He’s happy a lot of the time, but he’s happiest having cuddles, curled up on a nice warm lap. In our eyes, that makes Rico a cuddle monster – one who will also love cuddles from his eventual deaf recipient, changing their lives by being their loyal, furry friend and helping them to leave loneliness behind.

Training progress: Indoors, outdoors, anything for a treat
Rico is learning quickly. He’s already learned to sit patiently before being let through the door, and then, having gone through, sit patiently on the other side. In fact, he loves going through doors because he gets treats for doing this! With new sights and sounds he’s cautious at first, but in a good way: it doesn’t take long before his curiosity takes control.
